SAN ANGELO, Texas (Concho Valley Homepage) — Central Football has just closed out the first half of their schedule, heading into their open week, 3-2. Mark Smith spoke to the media at the weekly media day on Monday afternoon.
The Bobcats went into district play in 2024 with the same record, winning the same stretch of games just before. This season, the Bobcats have themselves a well-rounded unit, with the same explosive ability that we were accustomed to seeing last season. Except this year’s team has a much better defense that you can tell has more grit and can give an offense fits on the right Friday night, led by their captain, Mason Van Sickle. They get at it, they give you many looks, and they can prevent a good offense with a lot of help on the other side, which brings more confidence.
Look for the Bobcats to finish district play with a better record than they did in 2024. The corner was turned last season, exiting district play, and Mark Smith has these Bobcats ready for what’s to come. And there’s no better measuring stick than getting one of the better teams over the last decade, Midland Legacy, at home to open districts.
