Games start today!
Today begins the Wild Card round of the playoffs. A series where the teams have to weather the three game sprint and the nerves that come with it. 2022 was our first exposure to it and boy were those games tough to watch. 2023 against the Marlins felt more like a warmup to facing the Braves again, but 2024 saw them trying to get out of the NLDS without the benefit of three games before.
This week, we have some good choices to focus on. There are four choices. The most obvious is, of course, the Reds and Dodgers series. That’s going to produce the team that will come to Philadelphia, but the other series do have some promise. The Cubs and Padres series feels like a one sided affair in favor of San Diego, but strange things can happen. Guardians and Tigers should be entertaining thanks to last few weeks’ meetings that have seen the AL Central get upended. And then, we have Yankees and Red Sox, which is incredibly intriguing in its own right.
So, which one are you most focused on? My guess is the overwhelming choice would be in Los Angeles, but I’ve got my eye on how San Diego looks in Chicago. If they can get through the Cubs, it feels like they can give the Brewers a run for their money.
