Bayer Leverkusen coach Kasper Hjulmand hopes insight from Malik Tillman, who was signed from PSV Eindhoven in July, can give his side the edge in the Champions League clash with the Dutch team on Wednesday.

Leverkusen assistant coach Rogier Meijer, who previously worked as head coach at NEC Nijmegen in the Dutch league, also offered tips.

"Both were able to tell me a lot, especially about the players, and give me valuable little details. Rogier does a great job on the training ground. He is very professional and has a good insight of football," Hjulmand told a news conference on Tuesday.

Tillman has had a mixed start to the Bundesliga having banged in the goals in the Netherlands, netting two in the German top-flight so far.

"Every player who is new to a club first has to get used to the new team-mates and structures. Malik is adapting very well and is getting better and better," Hjulmand said of the Germany-born US international.

Leverkusen drew 2-2 in their Champions League opener against Copenhagen two weeks ago in Hjulmand's native Denmark. PSV, coached by former Leverkusen boss Peter Bosz, were stunned 3-1 at home by Belgian side Union Saint-Gilloise.

"I’ve known Peter Bosz, his clear style of play and his philosophy for many years," Hjulmand added. "Our focus is on showing our identity on the pitch tomorrow and playing the way we want to. We’ll give our all to win."
