Here are five takeaways from the Jets' 27-21 loss to the Dolphins in Week 4.
The New York Jets lost once again in Week 4, this time on a prime-time occasion against the Miami Dolphins on "Monday Night Football."
The Dolphins (1-3) entered the occasion as a winless team after this games to start the 2025 NFL season. However, Miami was the team that escaped with a win over New York (0-4) as the Jets continue to only make a handful of enough plays to keep games close yet nowhere close to winning.
With that, here are Jets Wire's five takeaways from the Jets' loss to the Dolphins:
One good
We're going to get to plenty of bad so let's get one good note out there.
Quarterback Justin Fields does have that ability to make the prolific plays still. Fields brought out some excitement on at least one occasion in Miami as he, somehow, turned this fourth-down play into a 42-yard rushing touchdown:

Messy ball
The Jets don't have much positive come from good play when they're turning the ball over like they are. The Green and White gave the ball away to the Dolphins on three different occasions on Monday. The highlighted one was running back Braelon Allen's fumble at the goal line as he tried to score.
Adding to the mess: the 13 penalties the Jets took, more than double the amount of the Dolphins (6).
Glenn's defense is not getting better
The former Jets cornerback was hired via the Detroit Lions where he was the defensive coordinator. Glenn has his successes there. He has not seen those same ones in New York... and Glenn's doing a lot of talking about the talent of his defense and need to play disciplined, but none of that is happening thus far.
Some individual standouts so what's wrong?
On offense, the group is overseen by offensive coordinator Tanner Engstrand. Like the defense, his side of the ball is leaving plenty to be desired... but in an even more curious manner.
The Jets got good number out of quarterback Justin Fields, running back Breece Hall, and No. 1 wideout Garrett Wilson. And yes, while it was a six-point loss, it never really felt like New York was going to threaten.
So what gives? Is this one Engstrand?
In running for the NFL's worst team
The Jets are one of only three 0-4 teams left in the NFL. The other two are the Tennessee Titans and New Orleans Saints, a pair or rebuilding teams.
The Green and White were not supposed to be rebuilding. There were some expectations and there is no identity for this team.
Are these the same old Jets? Or are they worse?
