Maryland transfer Rakease Passmore will miss the 2025-26 men’s basketball season after tearing his Achilles tendon, according to a press release from Maryland Athletics.

Passmore, a 6-foot-5 guard, transferred to Maryland from Kansas alongside teammate David “Diggy” Coit. The sophomore logged 23 appearances in his first season of college basketball, recording 0.7 points per game while shooting 6-for-21 from the field (2-for-9 from three).

The Palatka, Florida, native was a four-star recruit out of high school. He was initially recruited by Maryland head coach Buzz Williams for Texas A&M before Williams reconnected once Passmore hit the transfer portal.

Passmore is one of seven underclassmen listed at guard on Maryland’s roster entering the 2025-26 season. He was expected to battle for playing time behind upperclassmen that were presumed contributors at the position including Coit, Myles Rice and Isaiah Watts.
