Kairat Almaty 0-5 Real Madrid

Real Madrid have continued their strong start in the Champions League, as they secured a 4-0 victory over Kairat Almaty in the first half of their league phase clash at the Ortalyq stadion.

The hosts almost took the lead inside the opening 10 seconds, but a header effort was straight into the grateful hands of Thibaut Courtois. Real Madrid were shellshocked in the minutes after that, but they have since regrouped – and in the last 10 minutes, they have piled the pressure on, with their reward having came when a poor defensive header allowed Franco Mastantuono to nip in ahead of 18-year-old Kairat goalkeeper Sherhan Kalmurza, who brought him down for a penalty. Kylian Mbappe stepped up and made no mistake.

Mbappe completes hattrick in second half demolition

Minutes into the second half, Mbappe has got his and Real Madrid’s second of the evening with a delightful finish over the onrushing Kalmurza, having been played in by Courtois. And on 73 minutes, he completed his hattrick following fine work from Rodrygo Goes, which allowed Arda Guler to set up with the France international for his fourth Champions League treble.

That third goal allowed Xabi Alonso to make further changes, and one of them made it 4-0. Rodrygo did brilliantly to get to the by-line, and his cross was headed home by Eduardo Camavinga for his first goal of the season, which is a fine moment for him after a gruelling spell out with injury.

Real Madrid were not done there, and with the final kick of the match, Gonzalo Garcia played in Brahim Diaz to net for the fifth and final goal. In the end, it was a comfortable evening for Alonso’s side, and they can now look forward to returning to the Spanish capital ahead of their next match against Villarreal.
