4 things we learned from the Jets' 27-21 loss to the Dolphins in Week 4.
The New York Jets were incredibly undisciplined on primetime. Turnovers and penalties helped contribute to a 27-21 Week 4 defeat to the Miami Dolphins on "Monday Night Football."
A late Garrett Wilson touchdown made the game feel closer than it was. Despite the score from the Jets' No. 1 receiver, there will still little hope.
With that, here are Jets Wire's four things we learned from the Jets' prime-time MNF defeat to the Dolphins:
The Jets are an undisciplined mess
Playing penalty-free football was routinely emphasised by head coach Aaron Glenn throughout training camp. It's been a recurring issue, with the Jets entering Week 4 averaging more than six penalties per game. It was even worse throughout Monday's slop-fest, with the Jets racking up another 13 penalties for 101 yards. Coach Glenn was irate in the locker room.
Giveaways are a recurring theme
The Jets entered the Dolphins showdown having committed four turnovers in three contests. It's another stat that trended in the wrong direction, as they committed a season-high three giveaways. A 12-play, 79-yard opening drive was crushed by a Braelon Allen fumble at the goal line. Fields also lost a fumble, as did kick returner Isaiah Williams. Yikes.
Where are the turnovers?
To make the Jets' turnover problem exponentially worse, they don't create any takeaways on defense. On Monday, Glenn's sloppy squad became the fifth team in the past 90 years to be 0-4 with zero takeaways, according to ESPN Research. They're an NFL-worse -7 in turnover differential.
Coach Glenn on the wrong side of history
Coach Glenn joined Adams Gase (2019) and Lou Holtz (1976) as the only coaches who began their Jets career with four consecutive defeats, per ESPN's Rich Cimini. No Jets coach has started 0-5. The Jets host the Dallas Cowboys in Week 5.
