Missouri Southern Football Looks Ahead to Next MIAA Matchup

The Missouri Southern Lions are looking to bounce back from their loss against Central Missouri, focusing on improving both sides of the ball for this weekend's MIAA matchup. FULL STORY HERE:

JOPLIN, MO. — After Missouri Southern’s 62-10 loss against Central Missouri on the gridiron, the Lions are taking what they’ve learned and looking ahead to their next MIAA matchup against Fort Hays State this weekend.

Head Coach Atiba Bradley said the way Central Missouri played was “abnormal,” but this weekend against Fort Hays State he’s expecting a more traditional game.

In the fourth quarter against the Mules, Bradley said the reasoning behind switching quarterbacks out was to give redshirt junior Chris Donohue the opportunity to play and see what he could do in a live game.

“How can I be better? What can I do to improve this football team? That’s our mindset moving forward. The challenge will be defensively doing a good job and squeezing the run lanes and making them one dimensional. Offensively, the challenge will be being able to block a big front,” Bradley said.

“I think when we just came out they were playing fast. We’re not hesitating and you know, we just we’re looking through our keys and we’re making plays and I feel like we just got to come together as a team and just figure it out,” junior defensive back Riley Hammons said.

The Lions will host the Tigers this Saturday, October 4 at 1 p.m.
