Manchester City vs AS Monaco: Latest City injury news and predicted City starting eleven

Manchester City take on AS Monaco at the Stade Louis-II stadium tonight in their second Champions League league phase fixture of the season. Pep Guardiola’s side will be hoping to build upon their impressive beginning to their Champions League campaign. They beat Napoli 2-nil at the Etihad on matchday one. AS Monaco will be looking to pick up their first points of the competition after going down to a 4-1 defeat to Club Brugge in their opening match.

Here is the latest Manchester City injury news and my predicted City starting eleven for tonight’s match.

Latest Manchester City injury news.

Pep Guardiola’s side will be without Abdukodir Khusanov, Omar Marmoush and Rayan Ait-Nouri for tonight’s match. Each player isn’t expected to return until after the upcoming international break. Rayan Cherki has returned to training in a boost for Manchester City. But, Pep Guardiola told the media yesterday that Cherki isn’t expected to return to the pitch until after the international break.

Rodri is available for tonight’s match after being included in the City travelling squad for tonight’s match. The Spanish international missed Manchester City’s 5-1 win over Burnley due to knee soreness. Whether or not he starts tonight’s match remains to be seen.

Predicted City starting eleven.

Gianluigi Donnarumma: Donnarumma seems to be an automatic selection in goal for Pep Guardiola.

Rico Lewis: Matheus Nunes has started Manchester City’s past two matches at right-back. I expect Rico Lewis to start tonight, with Nunes saved for Manchester City’s next Premier League fixture against Brentford.

Ruben Dias: I cannot see Pep Guardiola deviating from Dias and Gvardiol at centre-back tonight.

Josko Gvardiol: See above.

Nico O’Reilly: The young midfielder has almost made the left-back position his own in Rayan Ait-Nouri’s absence. He should start again against AS Monaco.

Nico: If Rodri isn’t deemed fit enough to start, Nico should continue in midfield for Pep Guardiola’s side.

Bernardo Silva: Manchester City’s captain seems to be a lock for the City starting eleven tonight.

Tijjani Reijnders: The Dutch international is slowly building into his City career. His energy and drive from midfield could be key to Manchester City unlocking the hosts defence.

Phil Foden: Another certain starter for City tonight in my opinion.

Jeremy Doku: The Belgian international bas been in scintillating format recently. He should be a lock to start on the left wing against AS Monaco.

Erling Haaland: Haaland is a certain starter tonight and looms as a key player, like always, for Manchester City.
