Hansi Flick explains why he keeps changing center-backs at Barcelona

He has lots of options

Barcelona manager Hansi Flick was quizzed on his team’s central defensive options ahead of Wednesday’s Champions League clash with Paris Saint-Germain.

The German has plenty of options for the game, with speculation suggesting Eric Garcia and Pau Cubarsi may feature which would mean Ronald Araujo dropping to the bench.

Flick spoke about his defenders at his pre-match press conference and revealed why he’s been happy to chop and change his back line this season.

“Every opponent has their qualities, and we have to explore the opportunities we have with the players available,” he told reporters.

“It’s not that I haven’t found the starting center backs or anything like that. We have a lot of confidence and quality; you can see the injuries on both teams, and we have to manage them.

“We’ve lost players in midfield, but it’s not that we haven’t found the formula, but rather how to approach the match against the opponent. Araujo is an incredible player, and he’s shown that in recent matches. I’m very happy with him.”

We’ll have to wait and see how Flick lines up his team against PSG, with Araujo, Garcia, Cubarsi and Andreas Christensen all fit and available for the match.
