LeBron James comments on his NBA retirement

LeBron James revealed whether he’ll be delaying his retirement for his younger son, Bryce’s NBA debut. He said, “I don’t know what his timeline is. He’s his own young man now. He’s down in Tucson. We’ll see what happens this year…but he has his own timeline.” James added, “I got my timeline.” (via Sky Sports)

Although it remains unclear when Bryce might join the NBA, his older sibling, Bronny James, was fortunate to play alongside his dad for the Lakers in 2024.

During the media day, too, James expressed his gratitude for getting to play another season and talked about retirement, without revealing a particular date or year. He said, “I’m excited about the opportunity to be able to play the game that I love for another season. However, the journey plays out this year, I’m super-invested, because I don’t know when the end is. I know it’s a lot sooner than later.” Reflecting on his journey, he added, “It’s pretty cool to know how many miles I’ve got and still be able to play at a high level. For me, age is kind of just a number, but it is reality, too.”

Previously, the NBA legend had also disclosed his Hollywood plans after NBA retirement in a conversation with The Hollywood Reporter. He was asked about his role in Trainwreck and, further on, whether he’s open to acting and playing an actual character. He replied, “Yeah, I would love to explore, and if the scripts start to roll in and there’s an opportunity for me to do some acting and I have the time — obviously, post-career — I don’t mind looking at it and seeing if I can make it happen, for sure.”
