Wales centre Ben Thomas is given a three-game ban after his 20-minute red card playing for Cardiff against Lions.
Wales centre Ben Thomas has been given a three-game ban after his 20-minute red card in Cardiff's United Rugby Championship (URC) win against Lions.
The 26-year-old will miss Saturday's game at Munster (19:45 BST) and the home fixture against Connacht the following weekend.
If he completes the World Rugby Coaching Intervention Programme his ban will be reduced to two games and he will be available for the derby against Dragons in round four of the URC.
Thomas was penalised for a dangerous clearout on scrum-half Nico Steyn in the build-up to a disallowed try for flanker Taine Basham after 33 minutes at the Arms Park.
Referee Filippo Russo showed him a yellow card after being alerted to the incident by TMO Stefano Roscini and it was upgraded to red on review.
Cardiff went on to win the URC opener 33-20, fighting back from being 20-14 down when back to 15 men.
A URC disciplinary update stated that Thomas "accepted he had committed an act of foul play which warranted a red card".
The entry point for the offence was six weeks but the centre had three games taken off for his good record.
Thomas started all 10 of Wales' Tests last season and returned to his favoured position of inside centre under caretaker boss Matt Sherratt, who has since left Cardiff to become international attack coach.
