Notes & Thoughts:
- Zakee Wheatley and King Mack played every snap at safety. The Antoine Belgrave-Shorter experiment has appeared to come to an abrupt end. I cannot remember a game since Anthony Poindexter has been the safeties coach that he did not rotate his safeties a single time, even in the biggest games.
- The lack of depth at defensive end became more apparent in the second have as Dani Dennis-Sutton and Zuriah Fisher started to wear down.
- Overall, the defense played well given six of the starters played 70 or more snaps, and eight played at least 62 snaps.
- Nicholas Singleton had six more snaps than Kaytron Allen. The run game struggled all night until the final quarter, but Allen was more efficient (4.5 YPC) than Singleton (1.9 YPC).
- Kyron Hudson had 48 snaps without a single catch. He has faded since his solid performance in the first game of the season.
- The offensive line is what it is at this point. Outside of a few snaps after Donkoh went down in the first half and a couple of six-lineman formations with Cooper Cousins, it was the same offensive line all night. They struggled to get a push in the run game until the fourth quarter and yielded relentless pressure on Drew Allar. I thought they would jell as they stopped rotating so much, but that has not been the case.
