Pietro Fittipaldi has joined Cadillac F1 as a developmental driver
Formula 1’s newest team continues to make moves ahead of its debut season.
Cadillac added Pietro Fittipaldi as a developmental driver, with the Brazilian confirming the news on social media on Wednesday. He previously served as a test and reserve driver for Haas, and in that role, he stepped in for Romain Grosjean at the Sakhir and Abu Dhabi Grands Prix in 2020, following the veteran’s horrifying crash at the 2020 Bahrain Grand Prix.
Fittipaldi said on social media that he is “very proud” to be joining an “iconic” brand:
The announcement comes on the heels of several personnel moves made by F1’s newest team. Last month, the team confirmed that Colton Herta was joining as a test and reserve driver for the 2026 campaign, and earlier this week, Cadillac announced that Tyler Epp, formerly the President and CEO of the Miami Grand Prix, was joining the commercial side of the team.
Of course, the biggest news was their driver pairing for next season, with Cadillac opting for veterans Sergio Pérez and Valtteri Bottas.
On that front, Cadillac also shared footage of Pérez in the simulator, as the veteran prepares for his return to the grid:
We’ll get to see what Cadillac’s new team can do on the grid in a few short months, with three pre-season testing sessions ahead of the 2026 season. The first will be a private test and will take place at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya between January 26 and 30, while the second will be held at the Bahrain International Circuit between February 11 and 13.
The Bahrain International Circuit will also host test three from February 18-20, before the season begins in Melbourne with the Australian Grand Prix the weekend of March 8.
