Trent Perry, a four-star small forward in the 2026 class, has committed to Kansas, he told Rivals.

The 6-foot-4 senior of Link Academy (MO) chose Bill Self and the Jayhawks over Maryland and TCU.

Perry, a native of Frisco, Texas, is ranked as the No. 102 overall player in the class, according to the Rivals Industry Ranking. He’s also the No. 36 small forward nationally.

Perry is the second prospect to commit to KU this cycle, joining four-star PG Tay Kinney (No. 15 NATL).

Perry on his commitment to Kansas

Trent Perry discussed his decision to choose KU with Rivals.

“I chose Kansas because I felt like it was the next step from Link, as in playing against the best players every single day in practice and playing in a great conference against good competition. I also felt like a few players similar to me got the right development there and made that jump to becoming a pro at Kansas.”

What led to his trust in the coaching staff?

“Even though they started recruiting me later in the summer, I feel like the proof of players being developed well and coach Self’s and the staff’s reputation really had me leaning towards Kansas.”

In his own words, what type of player is KU getting in Perry?

“My play style is a type of player that will make any play on the court or even off the bench to help my team win. I love flying around the court, getting steals and blocks, then running my lane in transition — making the right pass or finishing for myself. I also feel like I’m a very versatile defender and can guard all positions.”

He has a message for Kansas fans.

“I’m just really excited for my first year and ready to do anything it takes to win and keep the great tradition going at Kansas.”

Perry a standout at the NBPA Top-100 Camp

According to On3’s Jamie Shaw, Trent Perry was one of the eye catchers at the Top-100 Camp this summer:

Trent Perry plays with a non-stop motor. He is consistently diving in the floor or doing his best to create extra possessions for his team. Most of his offense is through lobs or in transition. He is going to need to develop the creation and jump shot, but he has a clear affect on the games he plays.
