Paris Saint-Germain are locking horns with Barcelona in the Champions League, but there is a chance that they could do battle with the Catalan side in the transfer market as well.
The Blaugrana have something of a traumatic past when it comes to losing players to PSG. The world-record transfer of Neymar Junior sent the club’s transfer policy into something of tailspin, with their heavy spending in the aftermath partly responsible for the loss of Lionel Messi – who then signed for PSG. Two years ago, the Champions League holders then activated the release clause of Ousmane Dembele, this year’s Ballon d’Or and one-time Neymar replacement.
PSG interested in Eric Garcia
The latest of object of their attention is perhaps a little less high-profile, but Sport say that PSG are eyeing Eric Garcia as a potential signing. While they understand that Garcia is likely to prioritise remaining at Barcelona, they are monitoring his situation. If he is not tied to a new deal within three months, PSG can sign him to a new contract on a free, given his deal is up next summer.

The figure of Luis Enrique would no doubt be key in any deal. The Asturian manager has already shown plenty of faith in Garcia while he was in charge of Spain, handing him a starting role in the national team.
Flick: "I have the utmost confidence in Ronald Araújo. He's always prepared and gives his maximum level. I'm happy with him."

Barcelona’s stance on Garcia contract situation
The Catalan daily do say that Garcia wants to remain at Barcelona, and talks are underway for a new deal. He has taken on more importance under Hansi Flick in the last six months, which augers well for their chances of retaining him, but they will have to make an offer that matches that importance. Following an agreement for a new deal for Frenkie de Jong, it is thought that a new deal for Garcia is next on the agenda for Director of Football Deco.
