Wrestling legend ‘Hacksaw’ Jim Duggan recently responded to a story that The Sandman told about the pair potentially winning tag team gold back in the day.
Speaking to WrestleTalk, Duggan was told about a story The Sandman told about the pair. According to his fellow legendary colleague, Sandman and Duggan were told they would become WWE Tag Team Champions in 2007.
However, Duggan said that he believes Sandman might have been misinformed. He also noted that the pair actually had very little interaction together.
“I think Sandman might have misspoke or something, I had very little interaction with Sandman; I think he might have been putting himself over,” said Duggan. “Yeah, I don’t see that, me and Slaughter maybe, but yeah, I don’t see that, brother. He might have come up with that one late at night.”
Despite never winning the WWE Tag Team Championships, Duggan was still a highly decorated star. During his time with WCW, he won both the World Television Championship and United States Heavyweight Championship. He also won WWE’s 1988 Royal Rumble and was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2011.
