Liverpool Interest in Michael Olise Confirmed by BILD

The transfer rumour mill continues to turn, and this time it is German outlet BILD that has provided fresh confirmation of Liverpool’s interest in Bayern Munich’s Michael Olise.

Olise’s Rise in Germany

Olise has quickly established himself as one of Europe’s standout young forwards since leaving Crystal Palace for Bayern last summer. His numbers speak volumes. Twenty goals and twenty-three assists in fifty-five appearances underline why Premier League clubs are circling once again.

According to Christian Falk of BILD, Liverpool already had Olise on their radar a year ago. “The English champions already had Olise on their transfer list for the future a year ago. Chelsea FC and Manchester City – both clubs sorted out Olise in the youth – are also interested in the Bayern star.”

That reference to regret is striking. Both City and Chelsea misjudged Olise during his youth development, and neither club intends to miss the opportunity again. Liverpool, meanwhile, continue to track his progress closely, particularly as long-term questions linger over Mohamed Salah’s future at Anfield.

Bayern’s Contract Strategy

Bayern’s response has been swift. The Bavarian club is not willing to allow their asset to be prised away easily. BILD report that Bayern are preparing to extend Olise’s contract until 2031, while also increasing his annual salary from around €12 million plus bonuses.

Sporting director Max Eberl stated, “He still has over three and a half years left on his contract and will increasingly be a decisive factor in FC Bayern’s game and shape the future of this team, if it is up to us: the longer, the better”.

It is clear Bayern view Olise as central to their project. A lengthy deal without an exit clause makes any potential move exceptionally complicated, and only extraordinary financial muscle would test their resolve.

Liverpool’s Transfer Dilemma

Liverpool’s interest in Olise reflects a broader reality. With Salah edging towards the latter stages of his Anfield career, the club must identify genuine successors who can carry the weight of expectation. Olise, at 24, fits the profile, combining creativity, pace and maturity.

For now, Bayern hold the cards, but the pull of the Premier League and Liverpool’s stature cannot be discounted in the long term.

Our View – Anfield Index Analysis

From a Liverpool supporter’s perspective, the Olise story is tantalising. Supporters have seen similar links emerge over recent windows, and this feels like one that might resurface repeatedly in the years ahead. Olise is a player who could electrify Anfield, a wide forward with the ability to score and create in equal measure.

The timing is significant. With Salah’s longterm future a consistent talking point, fans are aware that a transition phase is inevitable. The question is whether Liverpool’s recruitment team will act decisively or allow rivals to dictate the market. Chelsea and City’s regrets highlight what Liverpool must avoid.

There will be scepticism. Bayern’s firm stance and lucrative extension offer suggest Olise is more likely to stay put, at least in the immediate future. Yet Liverpool supporters have witnessed time and again how players can be tempted by the Premier League spotlight.

Many fans will argue that investing in a player of Olise’s calibre, even at considerable cost, would demonstrate the ambition required to keep pace with Manchester City and Arsenal. Others may stress the need for balance, pointing out Liverpool’s recruitment model thrives on value rather than super-spending.

Ultimately, Olise represents the type of player Liverpool should be targeting. Whether a deal ever materialises is uncertain, but the interest alone underlines the club’s intent to remain at the top of European football.
