The long-awaited return of Conor McGregor might finally be locked in place.
Every since the idea was announced, “The Notorious” has demanded a spot atop the UFC White House card, which is currently scheduled at the end of June, one week before the 4th of July. UFC CEO Dana White has expressed support for the idea, and McGregor recently claimed to be negotiating $100 million away from the US government for his troubles.
Apparently, negotiations are going swimmingly! Per McGregor, his UFC White House return is all squared away, and he’s officially set to return next summer.
“It’s a done deal, signed, delivered,“ McGregor told Sean Hannity. ”End of negotiations. McGregor will compete in the White House for America’s 250th birthday.“
When asked about whether Dana White approved, McGregor responded “Me and Dana are in constant communications. We’ve done incredible business together. I’m the highest generating fighter of all time in the Ultimate Fighting Championship. They’ve just signed a breathtaking deal with Paramount where we’re going to cable tv. $7.7 billion that deal! I’m ready to rock baby, bring in the big dog, the Mac!”
McGregor sounds very optimistic about his comeback date, and he recently stated that Michael Chandler was still his targeted opponent. As “Iron Mike” knows well, however, McGregor cannot be trusted at his word alone in regards to a comeback. His previous attempts to return to the cage have been met with numerous delays and setbacks, and McGregor has angry at the promotion icing him out not that long ago.
It’s now been over four years since McGregor’s last Octagon appearance. If indeed McGregor does make it to the UFC White House event, he’ll have been on the sidelines nearly five full years.
