Earlier this week, FC Barcelona youngster Roony Bardghji received his first-ever call-up to the Sweden senior national team.
The 19-year-old winger, who joined the Catalans in the summer, had been playing for the Sweden U-21 side up until now, including during last month’s international break.
However, this time out, Sweden head coach John Dahl Tomasson included him in the senior national team squad for the upcoming international fixtures next week.
Bardghji praised by Tomasson
At 19 years old, Bardghji is regarded as one of Sweden’s brightest prospects and could make his debut for the senior side as they get set to take on Switzerland and Kosovo later this month.
And, Tomasson spoke highly of the attacker, pointing out how he had been playing for a club like Barcelona at such a young age.
“He is a fantastic player. It is impressive that a player of that age has so much playing time at a club as big as Barça,” said the Sweden head coach, as quoted by SPORT.

The coach also highlighted the young attacker’s qualities and mentality that brought him to Barcelona, saying:
“‘He has brilliant drive, he’s ambitious, and he has shown that he wants to be the best. That’s something I value highly in an athlete. He’s still young, but he plays for Barcelona with all the pressure that entails.”
Bardghji was one of Deco’s personal bets during the summer. Despite having spent almost a year sidelined with a knee injury, the Barcelona director insisted on his transfer from FC Copenhagen, convinced that he would regain the level he had previously shown.
Bardghji confirmed that during pre-season, proving that his physical issues are behind him. Since then, he has made three appearances in La Liga for Barcelona and could soon make his senior debut for Sweden.
