Sting is one of the most iconic stars in the history of professional wrestling. The veteran star has retired from the squared circle after having a major run in All Elite Wrestling. During his tenure, the legend was part of many incredible moments and engaged in segments with many stars.
Back in 2021, Sting was once seen in a segment with Orange Cassidy, which marked their first-ever face-off in both of their careers. This transpired when Darby Allin faced off with Wheeler Yuta in a singles bout. Here, the veteran was on the side with Allin, whereas Cassidy was with Yuta.
During the final moments of the match, Cassidy performed his signature ‘kicks’ with the Icon, and Sting responded similarly after multiple attempts, following up by pounding his chest.
While speaking to Adam Barnard of The Sportster, the AEW star disclosed that this spot from 2021 was the idea of the former WWE star and called him a great leader.
“I didn’t tell Sting anything, and Sting just did it. So that’s another person that we’re very fortunate enough to have in our locker room. He made our locker room better. He was a great leader, and for him to play with me was an honor. I didn’t tell him to do anything. He’s the one who did it. Blame him. Blame him for that,” Cassidy said. – (H/T – Fightful)
The words of Orange Cassidy prove that Sting is loved by both the audience and the backstage crew and stars.
Sting’s son to make his in-ring debut soon
Despite Sting having already retired from the squared circle, his legacy will now be carried forward by his own son, Steven Borden Jr. It was confirmed that the son of the legendary star will compete on October 3 and 10 for a pair of shows titled ‘Hardway’.
With this, Sting’s son will officially kick off his in-ring career as a professional star. Steven has already appeared once in All Elite Wrestling Promotion during AEW Revolution 2024. However, he was not an official competitor in the match, and he only appeared in Sting’s entrance (and to perform a Stinger splash). Now, he is all set to step inside the in-ring competition, as he has been training with Darby Allin to prepare for his debut.
