Lille goalkeeper Berke Özer saved three late penalties, two of them re-taken, in an extraordinary 1-0 Europa League victory at Roma on Thursday.
Özer denied Artem Dovbyk in the 85th minute after an Aiassa Mandi handball, but a review revealed that he had left the goalline too early. Dovbyk failed again on the re-taken attempt as Özer dove to his left to keep the poorly taken kick out.
But the Turkey keeper had moved too early again upon another review, giving Roma a third chance to equalize. Matias Soule stepped up this time, but he also failed to beat Özer into the left corner with another weak attempt.
Özer's heroics conserved Lille's lead from Hakan Arnar Haraldsson's sixth-minute goal at the Olympic Stadium for a precious victory.
