The Longhorns travel to Gainesville to face a reeling Gators squad.
The No. 9 Texas Longhorns are entering a crucial stretch of their schedule.
Texas plays its first five SEC games over the next five weeks, four of them away from Austin, starting this week in The Swamp against the Florida Gators. The Gators are a team in need of a big win, coming off of three losses that were embarrassing in their own way. After being upset by South Florida, quarterback DJ Lagway threw five interceptions in the loss to LSU, then capped the three-game skid with a 61-yard performance in a blowout loss to Miami. Head coach Billy Napier came into the season already on the hot seat and now heads into his second SEC game coaching for his life.
The Longhorns had their own non-conference struggles, but seemed to bounce back against a wildly outmatched Sam Houston State team ahead of the bye. Quarterback Arch Manning seemed to get his groove back in the contest, but he has to prove that he can do it against a quality opponent for the narrative to shift around Texas.
