Is Davante Adams injured? Rams star WR anonymous in first quarter of TNF originally appeared on The Sporting News

The Los Angeles Rams and the San Francisco 49ers are doing battle in an NFC West showdown on Thursday Night Football at SoFi Stadium, with Kyle Shanahan's team getting out to an early 7-0 lead.

But as the first quarter came and went, we noticed something - where was Davante Adams?

With Adams and Puka Nacua the big weapons for Matthew Stafford, both were hardly seen in the first quarter with Puka having just one reception for five yards, but Adams? No receptions, no targets, no nothing.

But why? Was he injured?

As it turns out, Mac Jones and the 49ers' offense were cooking.

In the first quarter Jones was 9 of 11 for 112 yards and a touchdown, as the 49ers had 139 total yards of offense to the Rams' seven, ran 22 plays to just six and had the ball for just over 11 minutes, leading the Rams with a little over three minutes with the ball.

Jones led a 12-play, 87-yard touchdown drive that took 4:51 minutes off the clock, before the Rams punted after just eight plays as Adams and the Rans offense was left sitting on the sidelines with Jones leading a monster 17-play, 75-yard touchdown drive that took over seven minutes to begin the second quarter.

Adams enjoying L.A life

Through four games, Adams already has three touchdowns and 269 yards from 17 receptions as working with Matthew Stafford has been rather fruitful for the star receiver.

But not in the first quarter against the 49ers.

Having to sit on the sidelines, Adams, like the rest of his offensive teammates would have to be wondering when they would get on the field again, and it will be go-time for the offense.

A big part of what the Rams do, Adams has adjusted to life well so far in L.A. and it appears that he'll be needed now more than ever at SoFi Stadium.
