No. 18 FSU and No. 3 Miami are set to face off as ranked teams for the first time since 2016 on Saturday as each side looks to claim status as the top dog in the Sunshine State in 2025.

The Seminoles come in attempting to bounce back from their first loss of the season in major fashion while Miami hopes to solidify its status as a national title contender.

Ahead of the matchup, the ACC released the now-mandatory availability report for the matchup with FSU listing several players as questionable and probable, including running back Kam Davis who last week was unavailable for the Seminoles.

That was Mike Norvell on Wednesday, as the coach normally does an excellent job emphasizing and preparing his teams to play with emotion but not over the line, always between the whistles. For some reason, this year, however, teams around the country are struggling to maintain their composure. Whether it was KJ Bolden giving Alabama a free 15 yards with a horrendous unsportsmanlike conduct penalty last week, or UF defensive lineman Brendan Bett spitting at a USF player to extend the Bulls’ eventual game-winning drive, college football has gone backwards in terms of keeping their heads. Last season, Miami was called for unsportsmanlike conduct and roughing the passer, and in 2023, the Hurricanes earned another unsportsmanlike conduct call. Saturday night will be the first road game of the season for Miami and a hostile environment could turn them on edge. Florida State needs to take advantage while not taking any selfish flags of their own.

FSU vs. Miami: Game notes

  • Florida State continues ACC play with an in-state rivalry in primetime at sold-out Doak Campbell Stadium. FSU is 3-0 at home this season, including a season-opening win over No. 8 Alabama.
  • The Seminoles have topped 500 yards of total offense in three straight games, their first such stretch since the 2013 national championship season.
  • FSU leads the nation with the most explosive offense in 2025, averaging 53.0 points and 600.0 total yards per game. They lead the country in plays of 40+ yards (13), rank 2nd in 30+ yard plays (20) and 50+ yard plays (7), and 6th in 60+ yard plays (4). FSU is one of 19 teams with an 80-yard play this year.
  • The Seminoles’ 212 points scored are the 3rd-most through four games in program history. They are one of nine teams nationally to score at least 31 points in every game this season.
  • FSU ranks top 5 nationally in rushing plays of 10+ yards (46, 2nd), 20+ (14, 2nd), 30+ (6, 8th), 40+ (4, 7th), 50+ (3, 4th). They also rank top 5 in passing plays of 30+ yards (14, 2nd), 40+ (9, 2nd), 50+ (4, 5th), 60+ (3, 2nd) and 80+ (1, 1st).
  • The Seminoles lead the ACC in rushing offense (336.3 ypg, 2nd nationally), passing efficiency (189.36, 3rd), yards per completion (17.58, 3rd), 3rd-down percentage (.588, 6th), defensive interceptions (6, 9th), red zone TD percentage (82.6, 10th) and fewest penalties per game (4.25, 18th).
  • FSU’s 775 total yards vs. Kent State are the most in the nation this season and the most by any team since UNC’s 778 vs. Miami in 2020. After gaining 729 yards vs. East Texas A&M, the Seminoles became the first team with back-to-back 700-yard games since 2015.
  • In records since 1995, FSU is the 18th team nationally and 3rd in the ACC with multiple 725-yard games in the same season. They are the first ACC team, and one of only three nationally (with Baylor in 2015 and 2013), to post back-to-back games of at least 725 yards.
  • Florida State broke single-game school records vs. Kent State with 498 rushing yards, 8 rushing TDs, and 27 rushing first downs. The 498 rushing yards were the most vs. an FBS opponent since Jacksonville State vs. Louisiana Tech in 2023. The 27 rushing first downs were the most since Air Force vs. Nevada in 2022, and the 8 rushing TDs were the most by an ACC team since Georgia Tech at Louisville in 2018.
  • FSU piled up 729 total yards vs. East Texas A&M with near-perfect balance: 361 rushing yards and 368 passing yards. It marked only the 3rd time in program history, and first since 1995, that FSU recorded at least 350 rushing and 350 passing yards in the same game.
  • Florida State, which has recorded a touchback on all 34 kickoffs this season, is the only team in the country with a perfect touchback percentage in 2025.
