Could Robert Lewandowski continue at Barcelona? Deco offers update on veteran striker

The veteran’s future is unclear

Robert Lewandowski is into the final year of his contract at Barcelona and is widely expected to move on at the end of the season.

The striker celebrated his 37th birthday in the summer and has been linked with a lucrative move to Saudi Arabia, while AC Milan are also said to be keen on the Poland star.

Deco has been asked if there’s a chance that Lewandowski could continue at Barcelona and said both the club and the player will take it “step by step.”

“Robert is, for me, the best striker of recent years. He’s a phenomenon at every level. An example in everything. There are few players at this level, except for Cristiano Ronaldo. With this training culture, this seriousness, this professionalism…

“We’re talking about Robert Lewandowski, a little respect. And for this very reason, we have to take it step by step and not debate it publicly. He’s intelligent enough to know the tempos and timings to talk about this at the right time.”

Lewandowski missed the start of the season through injury but has gone on to score four goals in six La Liga appearances so far for Hansi Flick’s side.
