Mac Jones reveals how many bananas he actually ate on 49ers sideline

Sometimes you just need a banana.

Mac Jones reveals how many bananas he actually ate on 49ers sideline originally appeared on The Sporting News

Mac Jones needed some potassium.

Who can blame him? The San Francisco 49ers were counting on their quarterback to grit out a Thursday Night Football victory over the Los Angeles Rams. He needed the fuel, and so he turned to bananas.

Viewers raised their eyes late in the game when Amazon Prime broadcast play-by-play man Al Michaels said that the banana Jones was eating on the sideline in that moment was his 11th of the game.

Afterward, Jones clarified it hadn't been quite that many.

"Eleven? That's definitely wrong," Jones told reporters afterward. "But... I think I had three. Yeah, that was incorrect, but they can believe whatever they want."

Jones was surely in a good mood about all of it given the victory he'd just achieved as the 49ers found a way to win right at the end of overtime on a walk-off Eddy Pineiro field goal.

The former first-round pick of the Patriots, Jones was standing in for Brock Purdy for the third time in five weeks to start the season, and he was prolific.

Jones completed 33-of-49 passes for 342 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

He went down with a painful looking knee injury at one point but managed to stay in the game and push the 49ers' record to 4-1.

Jones has yet to lose this season in his three starts.

Maybe the bananas are the secret after all.
