Jets' Aaron Glenn looking to avoid historic 0-5 start in his first season

Will New York Jets head coach Aaron Glenn win against the Dallas Cowboys?

There are many things that have gone wrong for the New York Jets to start the 2025 NFL season. They are 0-4 in Aaron Glenn's first season, and they are on the verge of missing the playoffs once again.

The Jets have not been in the playoffs since the 2010 season. Since then, this franchise has gone through many different head coaches and quarterback. If New York wants to see winning results again, beating the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday would be a nice start. The Jets are 0-4 this season and the Cowboys are 1-2-1. If Dallas were to win the game against New York on Sunday, this team would be 0-5 and that is something head coach Aaron Glenn does not want to deal with.

Aaron Glenn could make history if Jets lose

Rich Cimini of espn.com wrote about what kind of history Glenn could make if the Jets lose to the Cowboys on Sunday. He said, "If he loses to the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday, Aaron Glenn will be the first coach to start his New York Jets career with an 0-5 record. That covers more than 60 years, 18 full-time coaches and a lot of futility.

Glenn didn't expect it to go like this, but he knew the inherent challenges in taking over a team that had experienced only one winning season in its previous 14. After all, he lived it with the Detroit Lions -- an 0-8 start in 2021, his first year as the defensive coordinator under Dan Campbell."

Some of the coaches that have coached this franchise in the past were Herm Edwards, Eric Mangini, Rex Ryan, Todd Bowles, Adam Gase, Robert Saleh, and Jeff Ulbrich. These are some interesting names on the list for the Jets.

If they were to lose this game against Dallas, they will have one more game of having an automatic loss on the schedule until the schedule lightens up. New York faces the Denver Broncos on October 12. After that, the Jets will face the Carolina Panthers, the Cincinnati Bengals, and the Cleveland Browns.

It will be very hard for Glenn and this team to start out 0-8 like he did with the Lions. It would be shocking if that happened. The Jets have winnable games coming up on the schedule. Glenn may make history this weekend against the Cowboys by starting 0-5, but there is going to be light at the end of the tunnel coming soon for him.
