Real Madrid have a plethora of young talents coming through the ranks at La Fabrica.
The likes of Joan Martinez, Jesus Fortea, Diego Aguado, and Thiago Pitarch are already knocking on the doors of the first-team squad while there are several others waiting in the wings.
One such player happens to be teenage defender Victor Valdepenas. The 18-year-old defensive prodigy has been at La Fabrica since 2018, having joined from the Rayo Vallecano academy and is now a regular in the Castilla setup.
Valdepenas has yet to make his senior debut for Real Madrid, but did make it into the matchday squad for one game last season under Carlo Ancelotti.
Arsenal interested in Valdepenas
Now, according to Fabrizio Romano, Arsenal are closely monitoring Victor Valdepenas and are plotting to sign him from Real Madrid.
The Gunners admire the Spanish youngster very much and see him as a quality long-term addition to their defensive ranks.
As such, the Premier League club are keeping a close eye on his situation and development with Real Madrid’s reserve team.
However, any move to sign Valdepenas will not be easy as Real Madrid are unlikely to be open to the idea of parting ways with him.
After all, the Spanish capital club handed the centre-back, who can also play at left-back, a long-term contract until 2029 last year.
With David Alaba and Antonio Rudiger’s contracts expiring at the end of the season, there may be openings in the senior squad for defenders come next term.
Valdepenas could then become an option for Xabi Alonso, although with Joan Martinez and Diego Aguado also waiting in the wings, competition will be stiff.
