The star soccer player had nine saves in a 1-0 win over Pickerington North and allowed no goals in a 7-1 win over Pickerington Central.
Grove City soccer player Lorin Gabriel was selected the Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center Girls Athlete of the Week for Sept. 22-28.
Gabriel had nine saves in a 1-0 win over Pickerington North and allowed no goals in a 7-1 win over Pickerington Central. This season she has five shutouts.
She received 78.4% of the vote and was followed by Circleville golfer Isabelle Perini, who received 19%.
Perini shot a 68 to win the Division I Southeast District sectional at Jaycee in Chillicothe, setting both a personal best and postseason record for the team.
Also nominated were Westerville Central soccer player Cali Hejduk and Columbus Academby golfer Nala Chebli.
The Athlete of the Week voting recognizes athletes across all sports.
Nominations are due Monday mornings for competitions that took place the previous week. The boys poll is live until 4 p.m. Fridays. The girls poll is live until 4 p.m. Saturdays.
Anyone can nominate an athlete by email to [email protected] or through X (formerly Twitter) tagging @BrianWhite13.
Once athletes win during the regular season, they're not eligible to be back on the ballot until the postseason. Athletes who have not been a recipient of one of the weekly awards can be nominated more than once.
