Former Blue Jason Cundy was really impressed by the performance of Josh Acheampong in the win against Liverpool.
Chelsea recorded a deserved 2-1 win, their first league win since the end of August thanks to Estevao Willian’s last minute winner.
Moises Caicedo had given Chelsea the lead with an absolute rocket into the top corner, before Cody Gakpo equalised, but Chelsea’s Brazilian star ensured a much needed three points.
Jason Cundy praises Josh Acheampong performance
The talk going into the game was very much centred around Chelsea’s defence and what partnership Maresca was going to field.
Chelsea were without the suspended Trevoh Chalobah, whilst Tosin Adarabioyo was out with a calf injury, and Wesely Fofana was out with concussion.

The Italian opted to go with Benoit Badiashile and Acheampong, and the duo actually defended really well and dealt with Liverpool’s attack.
However, the duo both went off with suspected injuries handing Chelsea a further blow, and the Blues had to finish with Reece James and Jorrel Hato at the back.
It’s subsequently been confirmed both Acheampong and Badiashile are ok, and Cundy was particularly impressed with the teenager.
“I want to big up Josh Acheampong,” he said via Chelsea’s official app.
“He has been outstanding, by the way. Absolutely outstanding. He has been so good. Everything he has done.”
Chelsea grateful for the international break
Whilst it would be great to keep the momentum going with another game next week, the break comes at a good time for the Blues.
It gives Chelsea the chance to get players back, and the centre back situation especially should look much better for the Nottingham Forest game.

Chalobah and Fofana will both be back, whilst Tosin could also return, which gives Chelsea a number of options to choose from.
It’s still unclear what Chelsea’s best partnership is at the back currently, and that’s something Maresca needs to work out sooner rather than later.
