Big Ten Football Power Rankings after Week 6: UCLA shocks Penn State

Week 6 of the 2025 Big Ten football season mostly included predictable results, except for UCLA's win over Penn State

Week 6 of the 2025 Big Ten football season mostly included predictable results. Michigan edged a struggling Wisconsin team, Ohio State crushed Minnesota, Illinois topped Purdue, Nebraska defeated Michigan State and, thanks to a huge fourth-quarter comeback, Washington notched a big road win over Maryland.

The beauty of college football isn't often seen in those results, with most favorites delivering comfortable wins. Instead, it's seen in the upsets that nobody saw coming, like the 0-4 UCLA Bruins defeating the No. 7-ranked Penn State Nittany Lions 42-37 on Saturday.

That shocking result significantly impacts the Big Ten landscape. It all but eliminates the Nittany Lions from conference contention, plus further cements Ohio State and Oregon as the conference's top two teams. It also allows Indiana and Michigan to creep close to that top tier.

As we project forward, here is an updated snapshot of the Big Ten power rankings after Penn State's loss and the rest of the Week 6 results.
