Roma picked up a 2-1 Serie A victory courtesy of goals from Matias Soule and Bryan Cristante against Stefano Pioli’s struggling Fiorentina, who remain winless in the league after six matches, despite Moise Kean’s first goal of the 2025-26 campaign.
Roma welcomed Paulo Dybala back to the matchday squad, but Gian Piero Gasperini elected to hand a start to Tommaso Baldanzi for the first time in his Giallorossi tenure instead. Tariq Lamptey was the only absentee for Fiorentina, who came into Sunday’s game with no league victories under head coach Stefano Pioli.

The hosts claimed the lead after a quarter of an hour courtesy of Kean’s first goal of the season. Gianluca Mancini and Zeki Celike collided and wiped each other out, which opened up the space for the Italy international to run at Evan Ndicka.
He fired a shot at Mile Svilar’s goal from 25 yards out, and though there was plenty of power on the strike, the Giallorossi stopper will be disappointed not to have done a bit better.
Soule had the Giallorossi level just a few minutes later: His first-time, bending effort nestled into the upper corner of the net from the edge of the area with a strike that could be up for the goal of the month award.

The Giallorossi comeback was complete just eight minutes later when Bryan Cristante powered in a header from a tough angle from Soule’s corner.
Fiorentina twice went on to strike the woodwork: Once through Kean 10 minutes before the end of the first half, and again through Piccoli midway through the second with an impressive, improvised volley from 25 yards out which rattled off the bar.
Robin Gosens had a glorious opportunity to bring Fiorentina level 10 minutes before time, arriving perfectly at the far post. Though he had plenty of the goal to aim at, he sliced his finish off target for a goal kick.
Having held out for the three points in Tuscany, Roma currently sit alone at the top of the Serie A standings with 15 points from their first six matches of the season. Both Milan and Napoli are in action later on Sunday, and could draw level with their own wins.
Fiorentina, meanwhile, remain winless in Serie A and are heading into the international break in 17th place, only above the relegation zone on goal difference.
