Barcelona were handed a 4-1 loss by Sevilla this evening, in what was one of the club’s biggest defeats under the leadership of Hansi Flick.

In an evening that saw many Barcelona stars underperform, one player who stood out particularly was Marcus Rashford.

The Englishman, though, picked up a knock later in the game and looked to be struggling with a niggle after the final whistle.

This led to fears that the Barcelona forward might have picked up a fresh injury, thus adding to the club’s injury woes.

Nothing to worry about for Barcelona

According to Carlos Monfort, however, it seems Barcelona have nothing to worry about as far as Rashford’s fitness is concerned.

The Diario SPORT journalist cites sources inside the Barcelona dressing room, which suggests that Rashford’s injury was nothing more than a niggle.

Although he did end the match lying on the field, it doesn’t appear to be anything serious.

This could come as a major relief for Barcelona, who are already missing out on the services of Lamine Yamal, Raphinha, Fermin Lopez and Gavi through injury.

This has severely limited Hansi Flick’s options in attack. Losing someone like Rashford, therefore, is something Barcelona cannot afford right now, especially given the way the Englishman has been performing.

Indeed, Rashford was one of the better performers for Barcelona on the night, producing a stellar attacking display. But he was denied any real support in the final third.

In any case, Rashford will have at least two weeks to recover from any niggles he may have picked up during the Sevilla game.
