The high school football season continued in Michigan last week, as many of the top programs in the Great Lakes State were in action. No. 1 Detroit Catholic Central and No. 6 Cass Tech cruised to easy victories, No. 2 Hudsonville knocked off No. 5 Rockford, while No. 7 Unity Christian‘s high-powered offense struggled in a win.
Another jam-packed slate is on deck as teams continue their quests for a state title. Below are the top 25 Michigan high school football teams, according to the Massey Ratings, as of Oct. 5.
1. Detroit Catholic Central (6-0)
The Shamrocks raced past Brother Rice on Sunday, 41-8. Detroit Catholic Central made it look easy, leading 31-0 at halftime. Senior running back Cedric Williams scored a 69-yard touchdown on the Shamrocks’ first offensive play of the game. Junior quarterback Duke Banta threw three touchdowns in the win. The team will take on St. John’s Jesuit on Friday.
2. Hudsonville (6-0)
The Eagles came out on top of a thrilling 35-28 contest with No. 5 Rockford. Hudsonville raced out to a 28-0 lead but the Rams rattled off 21-unanswered points to pull to within a score. The Eagles would then put the game away with receiver Brady Van Laecke making a SportsCenter top-10 play — a leaping, one-handed catch in the back of the endzone. The team has a huge matchup this week against No. 4 East Kentwood.
3. Orchard Lake St. Mary’s Prep (4-1)
The Eaglets clearly made good use of their bye week as they cruised past Detroit Country Day 49-0. The game was called in the fourth quarter after a malfunction with the stadium lights. Orchard Lake St. Mary’s Prep freshman quarterback Case Campbell threw six touchdowns in the win. The Eaglets’ Michigan high school football season will continue Friday with a key game against Ohio’s Central Catholic.
4. East Kentwood (5-1)

5. Rockford (5-2)
The Rams battled back from an early 28-0 deficit but ultimately fell to No. 2 Hudsonville on Friday, 35-28. Rockford will look to bounce back this week against Jenison.
6. Cass Technical (7-0)
The Technicians’ dominant 2025 season continued Friday with a 64-0 annihilation of Western International. Cass Tech has outscored its last six opponents 278-22. The team will face off against another overmatched opponent this week: East English Village Prep.
7. Unity Christian (6-0)
The Crusaders beat Zeeland West 14-6 on Friday in a surprising defensive slugfest. Unity Christian’s 14 points were its fewest in a game since the team’s 42-7 loss to South Christian in 2022. The team’s Michigan high school football season continues this week against Wyoming.
8. Harper Woods (6-0)
The Pioneers dispatched Rochester with ease on Friday, 41-7. Harper Woods junior receiver Dakota Guerrant scored two touchdowns in the win. Next up for the Pioneers is a critical matchup against No. 12 Saline.
