The latest Texas Longhorns loss against the Florida Gators is not good news for the Longhorns.
Are the Texas Longhorns ranked in the latest AP Top 25 Poll? originally appeared on The Sporting News
The Texas Longhorns were ranked ninth in the country entering Saturday's game against the Florida Gators. Texas had a 3-1 record entering the game and Florida had a 1-3 record entering the game.
In this matchup, the Gators stunned the Longhorns and won by a final score of 29-21. With the loss for Texas, they drop to 3-2 and they are in serious danger of missing the playoffs this season. This is not the start to the season that this football team envisioned. They were the number one team in the nation before the season started. There was a lot of hype around the program enlarge to quarterback Arch Manning. Where are the Longhorns ranked in this week's AP Top 25 poll?
Texas Longhorns are now unranked
When the AP Top 25 poll was released on Sunday afternoon, the Longhorns dropped all the way from number nine to out of the Top 25. This is a major disappointment for Texas, and they will have an uphill battle to get back into the playoff picture.
The Longhorns season is on the line this week when they face the sixth ranked Oklahoma Sooners. The Sooners have yet to lose a game this season. Not many people expected to have Oklahoma ranked and Texas unranked at this point in the college football season.
If Texas were to win this game, they can get themselves back into the Top 25. If they don't beat Oklahoma, then the college football playoff hopes for this team this season will be dashed. There have been a lot of issues with the Longhorns this season.
The number one reason why Texas has struggled is because of quarterback Arch Manning. He has not lived up to expectations whatsoever. Maybe there was a reason why head coach Steve Sarkisian was starting quarterback Quinn Ewers over him for the last two seasons after all.
