Three predictions for Kansas City Chiefs' Week 5 matchup vs. Jacksonville Jaguars on 'MNF'

Take a look at our staff predictions for the Kansas City Chiefs' Week 5 matchup against the Jacksonville Jaguars on 'Monday Night Football.'

The Kansas City Chiefs and Jacksonville Jaguars are set to meet in an exciting 'Monday Night Football' matchup that could have huge implications for both teams.

Kansas City will look to push its record above .500 for the first time this season against the 3-1 Jaguars, who have exceeded expectations early in their 2025 campaign.

Take a look at our staff predictions for the Chiefs' Week 5 matchup against Jacksonville:

The Kansas City Chiefs enter another prime time matchup on ‘Monday Night Football’ against the Jacksonville Jaguars. The goal is to continue the winning streak and re-establish themselves as top contenders in the AFC.

Patrick Mahomes is looking to follow up his AFC Offensive Player of the Week award from Week 4 with a better Week 5 performance. The offense will need to run the football with the expectation of inclement weather during the game. Travis Kelce, who just turned 36, would like to continue his birthday celebration on a national stage.

The defense will be tested by the Jacksonville offense, which features several playmakers for quarterback Trevor Lawrence. The emergence of rookie Nohl Williams had been a pleasant surprise, but he will be challenged at cornerback this week. Harrison Butker will need to be clutch in the road matchup that could likely come down to the wire.

Final score: Chiefs 28, Jaguars 24

Kansas City should be able to win this game with relative ease. The Chiefs looked nearly unstoppable last week and seem to have hit their stride as the 2025 regular season enters its second act. If the reigning AFC champions can utilize the speed and athleticism of wide receiver Xavier Worthy, the Jaguars' secondary will have a long day on Monday.

Although Jacksonville has underperformed in recent seasons, the Jaguars are 3-1 through the first four games of their 2025 campaign and should not be underestimated. The Chiefs will need to utilize the deep passing game to take down the Jaguars on the road.

Final score: Chiefs 31, Jaguars 21

Kansas City seemed to have turned a corner in its Week 4 win over the Baltimore Ravens, and I suspect the Chiefs will continue to show improvement against the Jaguars on 'Monday Night Football.' Patrick Mahomes always thrives in primetime, and Kansas City should be able to rely on its defense to keep Jacksonville's passing game at bay after a remarkable outing against Lamar Jackson last week.

Chiefs wide receiver Xavier Worthy is officially questionable to play in Week 5, and his absence could throw a wrench into Kansas City's offensive game plan. Despite the uncertainty surrounding Worthy's status, I expect the Chiefs to come away with a win in this highly anticipated matchup.

Final score: Chiefs 23, Jaguars 10
