Game details set for Penn State football at Iowa on Oct. 18. Why it will be shown only on a streaming service.
Penn State football will be playing in prime time next Saturday, during its second Big Ten road trip of the season.
But it may not be as easy to watch the No. 22 Nittany Lions in Iowa, as usual.
Penn State's game at Kinnick Stadium (7 p.m. ET) will be broadcast exclusively on Peacock, NBC's streaming service. PSU's White Out game against Washington last November also could be viewed only on Peacock.
The Nittany Lions are in desperate rebound mode after dropping their second consecutive game − this time to previously-winless, inept UCLA in the Rose Bowl. They hope to regroup Saturday, on homecoming, against Northwestern (3-2), once again as a prohibited favorite.
Then they will travel to Iowa City for that Oct. 18 match-up with the Hawkeyes, who also are 3-2 after an open week.
Iowa will play at Wisconsin on Saturday night.
The Nittany Lions and Hawkeyes last met two years ago, a 31-0 PSU victory in a White Out in Beaver Stadium. Penn State leads the all-time series, 18-14.
The Lions, of course, must first find an avenue to beating an expected mediocre Northwestern team − one that held on late to edge UCLA.
Those Bruins may be derailed the Lions and their expected Big Ten Championship and College Football Playoff hopes with the biggest upset of the season, so far.
UCLA, which had not forged a lead in its previous four games, stunningly dominated the Lions early and held on for the victory that sent them freefalling in the polls.
It was the first time a Top 10 team lost to an 0-4 team or worse in 40 years.
