The Las Vegas Raiders didn't have star tight end Brock Bowers in Week 5 due to a knee injury and there is at least a chance he doesn't return in Week 6.
Bowers missed the first game of his NFL career because of his knee issue. Bowers was a limited participant in practice to start last week but was then held out the last two sessions before he was ruled out.
On Monday, head coach Pete Carroll characterized Bowers as "week-to-week," leaving the door open for the former No. 13 overall pick to miss Week 6.
"Brock is week to week," Caroll said, per ESPN's Paul Gutierrez.
What we know about Bowers' knee injury
ESPN's Adam Schefter reported on Sunday that Bowers is dealing with a PCL injury and bone bruise in his knee.
The injury doesn't appear to be serious, though, but rest is needed.
"Raiders TE Brock Bowers has been playing through a PCL injury and bone bruise on his knee that has impacted his performance, per sources," Schefter reported. "Doctors have said the only way to recover from the knee injuries he suffered on opening day vs. the Patriots is to rest, which Bowers has been unwilling to do."
It was pretty clear that Bowers was hampered by the injury. He just didn't seem to be moving the same and his production took a dip after a huge Week 1 showing.
Because of how important he is to the Raiders' offense and future as a whole, the team must take it slow with Bowers.
It's even less important to rush him back given Las Vegas is going nowhere this year following a 1-4 start that not even Bowers could save them from.
Las Vegas will drop its first injury report of the week on Wednesday, so we'll know more then, but for now we wouldn't expect Bowers to play on Sunday against the Tennessee Titans.
