What happened during the F1 Academy Round 6 at Singapore
The sixth round of the 2025 F1 Academy season came to a close at the Marina Bay Street Circuit in Singapore with Lia Block claiming her maiden victory in the all-female racing series and Maya Weug securing the win in Race 2, closing the gap to championship leader Doriane Pin.
Here is everything you need to catch up on from Round 6 in Singapore.
Lia Block celebrates maiden win
American driver Lia Block, who made her debut in the championship in 2024, secured her first victory in the series in Race 1 after starting from pole position in the reverse-grid race.
The win marked Block's first single-seater victory after joining the series from a background in rally.
“I knew I left some room in my suitcase for a reason [wink emoji]. Let’s freaking go!!! First win in F1 Academy, I couldn’t be happier with my performance. Leading from start to finish wasn’t easy but we unlocked some good pace! Thank you to everyone who makes this possible,” she wrote on social media after the race.

It wasn’t a straightforward victory for the 19-year-old. Two strong race restarts saw her successfully defend her position.
“Here it’s just about trying to catch people off guard because there are not many places to strategically do a restart,” she explained after the race. “I was just waiting for Maya to weave in my mirrors and then floor it from there. Both of my restarts were pretty good. I was happy about that - gave me some breathing room for sure.”

American Express-backed driver Nicole Havrda was briefly hospitalised for precautionary checks after a crash on the opening lap of Race 1.
F1 Academy released a statement to confirm her transfer to Singapore General Hospital: "F1 ACADEMY confirms that following an incident in Race 1 at Round 6 of the 2025 F1 ACADEMY Series at the FORMULA 1 SINGAPORE AIRLINES SINGAPORE GRAND PRIX, American Express driver Nicole Havrda has been transferred to Singapore General Hospital for precautionary checks."
The Canadian-Czech driver later shared an update on social media, confirming that she had hit her hand on the side of the car, causing it to bruise and raise concerns that she had suffered a fracture.
"Not happy but I'm OK! First I really wanna say thank you to the amazing medical team for taking good care of me," she wrote.
"Story time: When I crashed I let go of the wheel but my hand hit the side of the car which caused it to bruise. First I thought it was fractured but got an X-ray and it was all good. Now just need to get rid of the swelling and pain and it’ll be good.
"Most importantly I am happy to be able to race tomorrow. I really wanna say sorry to the whole team, my supporters and my parents for letting them down, this year has been a hard one. But there’s another race which is a full reset."

Unfortunately in Race 2, Havrda crashed again, marking her fifth DNF of the season.
Maya Weug claims Race 2 victory
Maya Weug, who is challenging Doriane Pin for the drivers' championship, claimed victory in Race 2, meaning the championship fight will now go to the final round in Las Vegas.
After losing the position to Pin on the opening lap, Weug stayed on the French driver's heels throughout the race before eventually taking the position back on the last lap.
“First of all, I feel sorry for everyone watching – the heart attack I must have given them! I was also not happy for the first 10 laps of the race," Weug explained after the race. "I don’t know what happened at the start because it didn’t feel like a horrible getaway for me, but somehow Doriane did a better job, which was very annoying.
“I tried to put her under pressure but they just had more pace out there in the dry compared to us today. It’s something we will look into because it’s important to get those starts right.”

She added: “That last lap was just crazy. I knew that the rain was one of my little chances to get past Doriane today, so when it came down I was quite happy. I just made sure that I knew where the grip was during the safety car in each corner, especially Turn 5 and so on.
“I managed to get good temperature into the tyres – obviously they were cold, but I think they were in a good range compared to the others. That’s what gave me the win today.
“I felt comfortable in the car. It just depends on how much more it would have come down, but in the end we had so few laps left that it wouldn’t have made sense to box and lose all that time and try to regain it. I think we made the right call. We were trying to play the dummy there and it didn’t work but we still got it in the last lap.”
The gap between Weug and current championship leader Pin now sits at nine points ahead of the final round of the season.
