The former Texas Tech and Kentucky head coach has faced allegations and complaints about his coaching style in the past.
Tarleton State head coach Billy Gillispie was reinstated on Monday, just days after he was placed on administrative leave following a complaint that was filed against him.
The nature of the complaint, which was filed anonymously last week, is still not clear.

"We're thankful to the Texas A&M System for working expeditiously in addressing this anonymous complaint," athletic director Steve Uryasz said in a statement. "The welfare of our student-athletes is of the utmost importance to Tarleton State University and the Texas A&M System. We look forward to the start of the Texan Men's Basketball season."
Gillispie is preparing to enter his sixth season leading Tarleton State, which marks his longest coaching stint in college basketball. The 65-year-old got his start at UTEP in 2002, and held short stints at Texas A&M, Kentucky and Texas Tech before landing in Stephenville ahead of the 2020-21 campaign.
This is not the first time that Gillispie has faced allegations in his career. Texas Tech players made allegations about his coaching style during the 2011-12 season, which prompted an investigation by the university. He resigned about a month before the 2012-13 season started, and cited health concerns.
Gillispie also spent two seasons at Kentucky, where he also faced concerns about his coaching style. He was fired after two seasons, and later reached a $3 million settlement after both sides filed lawsuits against the other.
The 65-year-old head coach spent two seasons at UTEP, where he went 24-8 and reached the NCAA tournament in his second season before a quick run at Texas A&M.
Tarleton State went just 12-20 last season and finished in sixth in the WAC standings under Gillispie's watch. He’s got a 78-74 overall record there and has just one winning season with a CIT appearance. The Texans will open the 2025-26 campaign on Nov. 3 at SMU.
