Lloyd intercepted Patrick Mahomes on second-and-goal and provided a spark with the long touchdown return.
Devin Lloyd is off to a masterful, impactful start to a contract year with the Jacksonville Jaguars.
The linebacker took it to another level during Monday Night Football, though.
The former University of Utah star intercepted Kansas City quarterback Patrick Mahomes late in the third quarter of a game tied at 14-14 as the Chiefs were driving for the go-ahead score.
What happened on Devin Lloyd’s 99-yard pick-six?
On a second-and-goal play from the 3, Lloyd stepped in front of a Mahomes pass across the middle, started upfield, then sidestepped a Mahomes tackle attempt, shook off another tackle attempt and raced 99 yards up the sideline for the score.
The 99-yard pick-six was a franchise record and gave the Jaguars a seven-point lead while sending the Jacksonville home crowd into a frenzy at EverBank Stadium.

What has Devin Lloyd done in 2025?
Lloyd leads the NFL with four interceptions this season and has five takeaways on the year.
He had two interceptions last week in a win over San Francisco and recorded his first interception in Week 2 in a loss to Cincinnati.
Lloyd also recovered a fumble in Week 3 during a victory over Houston.
What happened in Monday’s game between Kansas City and Jacksonville?
His interception Monday was a key swing of momentum. After Kansas City took a 14-0 lead early in the second quarter, the Jaguars fought back and tied the game at 14-14 on a Trevor Lawrence 10-yard touchdown run with 8:40 left in the third quarter.
On Kansas City’s next drive, the Chiefs appeared to have an answer, driving inside the Jacksonville 10. That’s when Lloyd intercepted Mahomes for the pick-six.
That swung Jacksonville’s win probability from 28% to 70%, according to Next Gen Stats.

Next Gen Stats further hammered home Lloyd’s impact this season, revealing that he has added +95.4% in win probability across his league-leading four interceptions, more than double the next closest defender.
Lloyd’s interception was just one of several thrilling plays in a back-and-forth contest that ended up in a 31-28 Jaguars win.
The lead changed hands three times in the fourth quarter, including twice in the final two minutes.
Mahomes first led an 86-yard drive that was capped by a Kareem Hunt 2-yard touchdown run with 1:45 to play to give Kansas City a 28-24 lead.
Lawrence and the Jaguars had the last laugh, though.
Jacksonville moved the ball into the Kansas City red zone and was aided by a defensive pass interference in the end zone on third down — a penalty that negated an interception — and set the Jaguars up at the 1.
On the ensuing play, Lawrence stumbled and fell backward as he pulled away from center, only to get up before being touched. He then fought off a Kansas City tackle attempt and dove into the end zone for the go-ahead score with 23 seconds to play.

The Chiefs weren’t able to move the ball downfield on the ensuing possession, as the Jaguars moved to 4-1 on the year and the Chiefs fell to 2-3.
Lloyd ended up with two solo tackles, one QB hurry, a pass deflection and the historic pick-six in the victory.
