Charlotte, NC — It is talking season when it comes to ACC basketball as Charlotte, North Carolina, is playing host to the annual ACC tip-off media day.
On the menu for Monday is the Virginia Tech Hokies women’s basketball team under Megan Duffy in their first year. Lady Hokies nearly made it to the NCAA tournament during year two of Duffy’s regime. She has high hopes that the team will make a run through the ACC and make it to the NCAA tournament.
Megan Duffy-Virginia Tech Head Women’s Basketball Coach- “We were disappointed with a couple of things that happened at the end of the year, but there are so many ways with college basketball you reset.”
Carys Baker-Virginia Tech Junior Forward-“Obviously, we’re pretty disappointed and frustrated with the outcome of this. Some of the season last year, we wanted to be one of the names called in the tournament, and we weren’t, so we just remembered sitting in that room and not hearing her name called. I think it’s definitely something I take into my workouts.”
Carleigh Wenzel-Virginia Tech R-Junior Guard- just understanding that you just can’t have mental lapses on small details that you can just know. I think there were so many times last year, specifically late in the game, that we just had the smallest lapses on that cost so much, and so kind of using that now doesn’t come into practice, not ready to go.”
Last season, the Lady Hokies finished 19-13 overall and .500 in the ACC.
