Egypt is on the brink of securing a spot at the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Sitting atop Group A with 20 points, the Pharaohs need just one win from their last two matches to punch their ticket to the American World Cup.
Mohamed Salah and his teammates could wrap up qualification as early as Wednesday, October 8, 2025, if they beat Djibouti—the group’s bottom side with just one point from eight games.
If Hossam Hassan’s men don’t get the win, and the Stallions (Burkina Faso) defeat Sierra Leone, Egypt will have a second chance at home against Guinea-Bissau on October 12.
Burkina Faso still need to win both of their remaining games to at least secure a place in the continental playoffs.
