When Bayern Munich appointed Vincent Kompany as head coach in the summer of 2024, questions were raised about whether the former Manchester City player was up to the task.
However, any doubts have increasingly faded. This season in particular, Bayern have been dominant, winning all 10 of their games so far in confident fashion.
FC Bayern and Germany legend Philipp Lahm is full of praise for Kompany’s work at the Bavarian club.
“He has brought calm to the club. That wasn’t the case before. There were many managerial changes, and it’s difficult to establish stability at a club like Bayern. Now that has been achieved,” Lahm told Bild.
He added, however, that the real test will come when Bayern face the top teams in the Champions League.
“Still, you have to wait and see how far the team really is when they progress in the Champions League and the knockout rounds come.”
When it comes to the Bundesliga title race, Lahm sees little competition for Bayern at present.
“The days of a two-horse race for the championship are a bit behind us, to be honest. I always see Bayern up front. Two years ago Leverkusen were in the mix, but otherwise Bayern is always the top favorite. You can see it again now – they have more quality in their squad than Dortmund, Leipzig, Leverkusen or Frankfurt.”
