Brentwood Academy claims third straight TSSAA golf state championship; Page girls go back to back

Hardin Valley boys captured the program's first Class AA golf state title while Brentwood Academy won its third straight on Oct. 7.

SEVIERVILLE — Brentwood Academy boys continued its dominant run in the boys TSSAA state golf championships, capturing the Division II-AA title for the third straight year on Oct. 7 at Sevierville Golf Course. The Eagles finished with a 4-under, 572.

Brentwood Academy was led by Andrew Sciortino, who shot a 3-under, 141 in the two-day tournament and was part of a three-way tie for second between Christian Brothers' Reece Shipley and Baylor's Zack Bourgeois. Sciortino's teammates, Carter Graham (tied for fifth, 142) and William Cothran (eighth, 143), helped lead the Eagles to the program's eighth state title.

Memphis University School finished state runner-up, two shots behind Brentwood Academy. But MUS standout, Brantley Moore, captured the individual crown in DII-AA, carding a 4-under, 140.

The Class A and DII-A tournament begins Oct. 9 with the final round on Oct. 10.

Hardin Valley boys claim first TSSAA golf state championship

Hardin Valley's first Class AA team state title came courtesy of a 5-under, 571 and was led by senior Eli Glenn, who finished tied for third with Collierville's Jackson Whaley at 3-under, 141.

Glenn led the tournament with 11 birdies. But it was Walker Valley freshman Cody Walter who walked away with the AA individual state crown after firing 6-under, 138, collecting eight birdies along the way. Senior Charlie Culbertson, of Bearden, was state runner-up at 4-under, 140.

Brentwood finished as state runner-up with a 574, three shots behind Hardin Valley.

Page girls repeat; Dickson County's Poppy Pewitt tops Class AA

Dickson County's Poppy Pewitt won her first individual state title with an even par, 140. The sophomore, avenged last year's near-miss when she lost in a three-way playoff. Pewitt led the tournament, Oct. 7, with nine birdies. Hardin Valley's Addisyn Newman was state runner-up with a 1-over, 141.

Page girls claimed back-to-back team state championships after finishing the Class AA tournament with a 289. The team was led by Brooke Bennett, who fired a 1-over, 141, for third overall. Shashe Ekker's 147 tied her for fifth and contributed to the Lady Patriots state title.

St. Mary's freshman takes home individual DII-AA title; Baylor girls end TSSAA golf state championship drought

St. Mary's Jada Lin had a memorable end to her freshman season, topping the leaderboard with 2-under, 138 for the state title. Hayden Cherry of Ensworth was the runner-up (140) while Knoxville Catholic's Teagan Walker finished tied for third with a 141 along with Harpeth Hall's Eliya Brandes.

After finishing state runner-up in 2024, Baylor's girls golf team returned to its championship pedigree after shooting a 298, led by Katie Tuder, who tied for fifth as an individual with 6-over, 146. It was the 21st state championship for Baylor, who won 16 straight state crowns from 1995-2010.
