Forward Pablo Garcia who has been linked with Wolverhampton Wanderers scored the only goal to help Spain U20 beat Ukraine in the Fifa U20 World Cup round of 16 on Tuesday evening.According to Ficherio, Wolves’ scouts have run the rule over Garcia while playing for Real Betis in La Liga and are currently monitoring his progress at the U20 World Cup.Ukraine started the game on the front foot, forcing goalkeeper Fran into a save inside six minutes.Spain then began to control proceedings and Garcia almost gave them the lead in the 19th minute when the Betis forward rose to meet a cross but directed his header wide.He finally opened the scoring in the 24th minute, firing the ball into the net, after receiving a pass inside the area from Rodrigo Mendosa.Garcia continued to look lively after his goal but neither he nor his team-mates tested Vladyslav Krapyvtsov in Ukraine’s goal.Three minutes before halftime, Matvii Ponomarenko squandered a chance to level the scoring, heading a cross wide of the post. Both teams pushed forward after the interval but it was Ukraine that got the first real opportunity, as Daniil Vashchenko unleashed a shot from distance but it was blokcked.Just after the hour mark, Garcia missed a chance to double Spain’s lead, firing a shot from a rebound over the bar.During second half stoppage-time, Ukraine and Spain created chances to score but could not convert, meaning Garcia’s strike proved to be the difference between both sides. The 19-year-old has now registered three goal involvements in the competition. He assisted Spain’s only goal against Brazil and scored in the 2-2 draw with Mexico.
