Cristiano Ronaldo just turned 40, but he’s still chasing goals — literally and figuratively.

While most footballers his age are swapping boots for golf clubs, Ronaldo insists he isn’t done yet. In fact, he’s got his eyes on an outrageous milestone — 1,000 career goals.

Speaking to Canal 11, the Portuguese superstar admitted that even his family is starting to drop retirement hints.

“People, especially my family, say: ‘It’s time for you to stop. You’ve done everything. Why do you want to score a thousand goals?’” he revealed with a smile.

“But I don’t think so. I think I’m still producing good things, I’m helping my club and the national team, and why not keep going?”

Ronaldo, now playing for Al Nassr in Saudi Arabia, has scored more than 940 career goals — a number that’s more video game than reality. Despite the calendar reminding him of his age, his right foot clearly hasn’t received the memo.

So, what keeps him going? Passion, competition, and that legendary drive to prove people wrong.

“I know I don’t have many more years, but the few I have, I try to enjoy to the fullest,” Ronaldo said.

He also confessed that testing himself against younger players keeps him sharp. “They help me maintain my level and continue competing. That’s what excites me: competing with the younger ones.”

He recently picked up the Prestige Award at the Portugal Football Globes, but Ronaldo was quick to point out that it’s not a farewell prize.

“It’s not an end-of-career award,” he clarified. “It’s recognition for years of effort, dedication, and ambition.”

The five-time Ballon d’Or winner remains Portugal’s captain and their all-time leading scorer with 141 international goals.

He’s still targeting another World Cup appearance in 2026 — and, knowing Ronaldo, a few more records before he finally calls it a day.

For now, retirement is the only thing he’s refusing to finish.
