Quarterbacks obviously get a lot of the credit and love, but there have been several other standouts at multiple positions this year.

Here are the nominees for the Nebraska high school football player of the year. Voting closes on October 10, 2025 at 11:59 p.m. CT, so make sure you vote early and often for your favorite.

Jett Thomalla, Millard South: The future Alabama Crimson Tide quarterback has been as good as advertised, throwing for 1,790 yards and 31 touchdowns against just two interceptions.

Austin Scheuler, Bergan Catholic: An effective and accurate QB, Scheuler has 1,456 yards passing with 17 touchdowns and just a single interceptions on 114 attempts.

Parker Zikmund, Central City: Zikmund has piled up 1,326 yards in the air with 23 touchdowns and only one interception.

Kip Brigham, Wahoo: Leading the way for one of the state's top teams is Brigham, as the running back has 1,472 yards on the ground with 23 touchdowns.

Tay Tay Jenkins, Omaha Westside: Along with rushing for 1,108 yards in six games, Jenkins has found the end zone 15 times.

Dominic Beebout, Valentine: Beebout is averaging almost 118 yards receiving per game with seven touchdowns.

Amarion Jackson, Millard South: Thomalla's top target, Jackson has 35 receptions for 686 yards and 11 receiving touchdowns.

Jake Poppe, DTHS: With 57 receptions, he is tops among the state, adding 696 yards and nine touchdowns scored. 

Parker Chavez, Valentine: Chavez has been all over the field, as the linebacker has 82 total tackles, including 11 for loss.

Teagan Urban, Millard South: It is no wonder Millard South is so good, as Urban anchors the defense with his 58 tackles including 24 for loss and six quarterback sacks.
