Razorback commit Tay Lockett talks success in Conway, future with the Hogs

It's not surprising, but Arkansas has had a lot of decommitments since the news came out that Sam Pittman was fired. Arkansas lost 10 commitments in 10 days, but one of the ones who has stayed true to the Hogs so far is Conway Wampus Cat Tay Lockett.

CONWAY, Ark. – It’s not surprising, but Arkansas has had a lot of decommitments since the news came out that Sam Pittman was fired. Arkansas lost 10 commitments in 10 days, but one of the ones who has stayed true to the Hogs so far is Conway Wampus Cat Tay Lockett.

FOX 16 Sports reporter Josh Berrian had a chance to catch up with him to talk about the season and, of course, the Razorbacks.

Tay Lockett may be new to the Natural State, but he’s very familiar with the gridiron. Playing varsity football since he was a freshman in San Diego, Lockett is enjoying his new team and community in Conway.

Coming in as one of the top safeties in California, Lockett is already making an impact in the south. Last week, he got his first pick-six of the year, and the week before that, he made Conway High history by becoming the first player to return a kickoff and a punt for a touchdown in the same game.

Lockett has been locked in with the Razorbacks, becoming their first commit of the 2026 class back in August of 2023. But with the dismissal of Sam Pittman, several of the Hogs’ recruits have fled, losing ten in the last ten days. Where does Lockett stand?

“You know I’m fully committed to the University of Arkansas. I’m always gonna try and bring in you know other guys, recruit other guys to the University of Arkansas. It’s a place I call home and at the end of the day I want to win football games. I’m fully committed the University of Arkansas, but most definitely the state of Arkansas.”
